Our school
Since our school gates first opened in 1891, Wales Street Primary School has thrived as a central part of the Northcote and Thornbury community that we call home. As an accredited IB school, we’re here to help our students achieve their very best, and to help foster a love of life-long learning.
FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Welcome to Wales Street Primary School!
I am delighted to extend a warm, virtual welcome to our learning community.
At Wales Street Primary School, we are dedicated to fostering an enriching, supportive, and dynamic learning environment for every student.
Our commitment to excellence is exemplified through the implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). This globally recognized framework empowers our students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners. The PYP emphasizes inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and a holistic approach to education, encouraging students to connect their learning with real-world contexts and develop a strong sense of global awareness.
At Wales Street Primary, we believe in nurturing each child’s individual strengths and interests. Our dedicated staff work collaboratively to create engaging and challenging experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning. Through a combination of rigorous academics that underpin the overarching Victorian curriculum and a supportive, caring community, we strive to equip our students with the skills and confidence they need to thrive both academically and personally.
Thank you for considering Wales Street Primary School. We look forward to connecting with you and your families.
Robyn Owens, Principal
